Top 5 Issues With Yu Yureka and Why it isn't a perfect smartphone

Yureka a subsidiary brand of Micromax, Creating a lot of stir among the tech markets in India, be it the price, be it the flash sales, Yureka is in the news for a while now. To be frank, even I was one among many who raved about the device, but with the long extended use, all i can say is "Yureka might not be the perfect smartphone you've been looking for" Many users have reported about some serious issues with the device, The issues are simply making the users unhappy about the device,  Let's look at some of the serious issues with Yureka reported

The Heating Issue: One major issue with Yureka is the excessive heating issue, the device tends to overheat while playing games, browsing, watching videos. The only solution for this problem is to reduce the clock speed of the device while playing or watching. Again two Questions arise, as to why include a powerful processor when it can't be utilized properly, and why a user has to go through all the trouble?

Random Rebooting: Sometimes the device reboots all by itself at random intervals, sometimes while using it and other, while it's kept on sleep. Not sure what is exactly causing this problem, for all i know the overheating of the phone causing the GPU to force shut down. But there can be other reasons as well, A bug in Operating system or internal damage.

Battery Drain and Poor Battery Calibration: Major requirement for any smartphone user is good battery life, Yu Yureka fails miserably in the battery department. Thanks to the large screen and power hungry processor, Battery on Yureka rarely lasts for a single day. Most times the battery drains even if its in sleep mode. There are some serious battery calibration issues related to the phone. And another major issue is, Phone takes a really long time to charge completely, sometimes it would take 15-20 minutes of time to move from 99% to 100%, that one percent wouldn't matter a lot but, A weird issue

Poor Camera performance: After the battery, most users look at the performance of the camera, in which Yureka fails again, the specs look grand on paper but not in reality. Yureka packs 13mp primary camera with CMOS sensor made by Sony but the shots were washed out with very less amount of details, same goes with video recording, the sound via microphone is not crisp. Camera performance isn't a complete waste, but it isn't the best either.  But a software update might fix the problem.

Poor Loud Speakers and Sound:  if you are a music lover, I must say Yu Yureka is not for you and does not please you in any way. The loudspeaker volume is very low, and the sound gets completely distorted when raised to the maximum level. Many users have reported that loudspeaker stops working at times and requires a reboot before any sound comes out again. Not just that sometimes the in call speakers also stop working, forcing the users to take calls via loudspeakers.

Pathetic After Sale Support: With These many issues, a general user looks for support from the company to fix the issues, Micromax is well known for its pathetic after sale support and same goes with YU as well. The support team line is always busy and very hard to get in touch with them, but few of them were lucky enough to get in touch and well, we all know what happened there.

Conclusion: Every smartphone has it fare share of drawbacks, and companies should work on them and try to fix them, which will help the reputation in the long run, in Yureka's case there a ray of hope in the form of Cyanagenmod which is known for its seamless work, so let's hope Cyanagen try to fix these issues with Android lollipop update. The First Sale of Yu Yureka is Going to be Held Tomorrow i.e 13th January 2015 Tuesday, Which is Exactly the same Day Xiaomi Conducts its Flash Sales. Note 4G and Yureka are Being Sold on The Same Day. However the Sales will be Held on two Different E-Commerce Sites. SO that Shouldn't Effect the Sales of Either of the Devices. But The Fact That Both the Devices are a Great Buy at The Price Point Have to Wait and See How Would the Market React to Devices.

Also Check: Redmi Note 4G Review

To Refresh Your Memory, Yu Yureka Sports a 5.5 inch HD Display with 1280*720p Display Which is Same in Case of Redmi Note, Sports a 5.5 inch 720p Display. Yu Yureka is Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset clocked at 1.5Ghz  Octacore Processor, While Redmi Note 4G is Powered by 1.6Ghz Quad Core processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset. The Processor on Yureka is Powerful. The Camera on Redmi Note 4G is a 13MP Auto Focus Camera and Front is 5MP Fixed Focus Camera, Also The Same in Yureka Which is 13MP Auto Focus and 5MP Fixed Focus Camera.

Coming to Battery There is a 3,100 mah Huge Battery in Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G With a Great Battery Backup and Stand by Time but the 2,500 mah Battery in Yureka is not Upto the Mark When Compared. the Special Algorithm Implemented in Yureka with 615 chipset Helps in Certain Conditions but When Compared with Redmi Note, Yureka is on Lower side. the Internal Storage on Yureka is 16GB with SD Card Slot which is Enough for Games and Media Storage and in Redmi Note its 8GB With SD Card Slot. No Issue With the Storage in Both the Devices.

Yureka Comes with Cyanagenmod OS With Android 4.4.4 KitKat and Redmi Note Has a Custom Skin Called the MIUI v6 Which is Also Android 4.4 KitKat. But Cyanagenmod is known for Faster and Stable Updates Every time and also Yurekha Would be Receiving the Lollipop Update Next to Nexus Devices. Both These Devices Support 4G LTE and Yureka Comes with Dual Sim Slots and While Redmi Note is a Single Sim Device Which May Effect the Dual Sim Users.

Conclusion: Both Redmi Note and Yureka Are Great Budget Devices From 2  Mobile Manufacturing Gaints. Both of Them Have Their Own Drawbacks and Advantages. it All Comes Down to User Choice Based on Their Requirement.but Our Pick Would be Yureka For Tech Lover to Experiment with Cyanagenmod.

                               Gadget Nations

Unlike The Micromax Regular Bloatware, YU Comes With Clean and Yet Powerful of CyanogenMod OS 11 (KitKat 4.4.4). The Box in Which it's packed Looks Similar to That of Xiaomi. Looks Like Micromax is Trying Hard To Sustain, So did YU Justify The Requirement?? Find Out.

Display: Though The Phone sports 5.5 Inches it is Good Enough to Operate With One Hand and also when compared with the Redmi Note 4G which is the competitor of Yu this Device looks premium and also the Back of the device looks similar to that of One Sandstone Black. The Device is 13.97 mm HD IPS Display with 1280*720p Resolution and 267 PPI with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Protections. The Viewing angles are not the bestThough the said it has 80-degree viewing angles.
                                         Gadget Nations

Physical Overview: Though it is the device, they are no signs of its branding on the device nor the box. The volume buttons and power lock/unlock buttons are on the sides that are easily reachable though the fact that it is. USB slot is at the bottom and headphone jack on the top. On opening the back panel,  you can find, SD card slot and two micro slots while on back the device has 13MP Auto Focus camera and on the front 5MP camera.
                              Gadget Nations

Performance: Yurekha is one the few devices powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset with 64Bit support, Clocked at 1.5GHz with 2GB Ram. Games like Modern Combat 5 and Asphalt 8 which ran without any issuesWith Some Intense Testing we Say that YU Can run anything you through at it provides that you have memory in it.

                               Gadget Nations

Camera: There is 13MP f22 aperture Sony IMX 135 CMOS Sensor Rear Camera With 5P Large with Blue Lens Architecture Can Record 4K Videos also and 24FPS frame rate and 5MP Front Camera. The Camera Has Decent Amount of Tweaks Like Live Filter, Exposure Control, Burst Mode and Video Can Recorded in SLO-MO and Time LapseCamera Interface is Simple Enough For Modifying the Filters and Options. The Day Lighting Pictures are Clear and Had Very Less Noise in Them with lot of details Captured, The Focus was Sharp and the Closeup Shots were Sharp,  but the low lighting was a bit of as it sometimes struggles with no sufficient ambient light, as a result, he wider shots and long distance shots turned out good but close-ups were a hit or miss here with no doubt best camera in this price range
               Gadget Nations

Battery: The Battery on YU is 2500, which might be less in numbers but then the battery backup was decent. We played games for around half n hour, and the battery dropped by 9% and on continuous video playback the battery lasted for around 9 hours. So to sum it up the battery performance is decent and depends on individual's usage.

Software and Connectivity: YU Comes with Android 4.4.4 on top of Cyanogen mod OS 11. is themes that change the complete look and feel of the device. From the boot animation to everything can be customized. As far as the connectivity the device supports 4G bands for faster connectivity and faster speeds with CAT4 150mbps Download speeds.

Bottom Word: YU Got it Correct on Some Levels. It's a Tough Competitor For Redmi Note 4G and Asus Zenfone 5 (3G)
