Android Marshmallow 6.0 is Now Official; Key Features and Highlights

Update: Google has finally announced that M in the next android version stands for Marshmallow. The android 6.0 is expected to start roll out soon after google unveils the next nexus smartphones later this year.

Earlier: Google I/O is place where google unveils the year long developments within the company software and hardware departments. Last year Google unveiled Android L on the same stage, the L update brought many design changes and thousand's of new API's for the mobile operating system Android and native 64bit support, shift from Dalvik to ART( Android run time). As the I/O 2015 starts google has unveiled the Android M developers preview on the first glance you might feels no difference but don't let that fool you Google has included some interesting changes and new tiny little animation that look good. Google overlays the Material design elements on top of Android M what matters is that powers the layered design. Here are the things that Google has introduced with Android M(mango?)

Happy Janmashtami 2015
Granular Permissions Support: Apps installed in our smartphone access out data to perform a certain number of actions while some apps ask for the user permission before accessing while some don't. With Android, M Google has introduced granular(a fancy word for default). The apps will now request permission before accessing any data and feature that are included within the smartphone. For instance if you want to send a WhatsApp voice message, once you tap the microphone button the app requests your permission to use the microphone. If you intend to change or revoke the app permissions later, that can be done via app permission setting that is available in the system settings menu. The only con of this feature is that it require 'M' SDK to support and might not work until they are updated.
New Web-Experience: Chrome is one of the primary product of Google and with Android M the company has made some changes that make it even better to use, the company calls it "Chrome Custom Tabs". To simplify chrome custom tabs mean that when you are using an app and click on any link within the app, the link is opened as a new tab in Chrome which will look exactly similar to the app colour and design elements making the Chrome as an app browser.

Other GOOGLE I/O 2015 Announcements---------------> Google I/O 2015

Android Pay: We have been hearing about the Android pay feature for quite some time now. Google has finally announced an update or feature of the Android pay. Android Pay makes use of the native fingerprint sensor and NFC to make the app payments easy. Once you save you credit/debit card details, android pay creates a virtual account number collecting the actual card number and keeping it a secret. Android Pay is working with leading financial institutions alongside with mobile carriers like Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc. for mobile phones purchases.  Android Pay works in over 700 thousand stores across USA and developer are soon going to include Android App in App purchases.  Do note that your device must support NFC for Android pay to work.
Native Finger Print: Companies like Samsung, Motorola used to include the fingerprint sensor for their flagship or at least high-end smartphones but with Android M Google 's included the fingerprint sensor by default. Android Pay makes use of the native fingerprint support as mentioned above for better security. Including the fingerprint as a native feature is a good move by Google allowing affordable/budget to get in touch with Fingerprint which was not available before.
Power-Charging: For every smartphone user battery comes as a primary requirement with new Doze power charging feature Google is trying to improve the battery backup time and standby time significantly. Doze is feature which makes use of Motion detector to measure your smartphone or tablet and if it's kept idle for some time it shifts the mode to Doze which kills all background apps from performing any type of action except for the alarm and incoming notifications. Google says that by using Doze mode they can achieve 2X standby time.

USB C-Type: Google has alsi introduced the USB C-type functionality for its smartphones and made it clear the all its OEM's will soon come with the same feature. Using the C-type USB you can use your smartphone to charge it or vice versa.

When Will This be Available?
Android M will be available as a developers preview for Nexus series smartphones and google nexus player from today. The official roll out will start from Q3(July-September) this year

Google Nexus 5(2015) Scores 85,000 on AnTuTu Benchmark Application; Is This For Real?

AnTuTu is a benchmark application that generally tests the power of the smartphone and results in a synthetic benchmark score. With Meizu Mx4 being a top scorer last year with score of 47,765, google nexus 6 edged out slightly with 47,079, now in 2015 Samsung has washed out all these scores and raced ahead to the top position with score of 68,157. Now, there is a new top scorer on AnTuTu benchmark application with an incredible score of 85,000, the New Nexus 2015 beating the galaxy s6.

The Google Nexus 5 hasn't been officially announced nor unveiled so at this point this might just be a rumor. Being a smartphone that tops the AnTuTu, we can assume that the device carries Qualcomm's un-announced Snapdragon 820 Soc under the hood. As we all know that LG is one of the nexus smartphone maker this year along with Huawei, as this news goes back to February when the first rumor came out.

Stay tuned to know whether the Nexus 5(2015) really exists, if the smartphone can really score 85,000 on AnTuTu and will the Nexus 5(2015) be on the top of AnTuTu the whole year.

LG Made New Nexus Smartphone Might Feature 3D Camera

LG is said to be working on new Nexus series smartphone; this news was here for some time now. Google has a tradition of launching a new Nexus series smartphone and a tablet every year, last year we had the Nexus 6 made by Motorola, which got mixed reviews from users. This time Google is making every possibility happen with the new Nexus smartphone. The news from Korean media iNews24 says that the smartphone might feature 3D camera along with two camera modules and an infrared sensor. However, the report doesn't mention how they both will function. The report says that the device will feature a premium build along with 3D graphics and comes with Android M out of the box.

There is also another rumor that surfaced last month that said that Huawei will be making the next Nexus series smartphone that will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810. Google has been using the Snapdragon chipsets since Nexus 4. It is touted to sport a 5.7-inches 2K display. Either way the device will feature Snapdragon 810 and a 2K display, but the difference lies within the internals. Though nothing is being confirmed either by Google nor by the companies so it would be best if we take this news with the pinch of salt and wait till October for the official launch.

Google's New Photos App Screenshots Leaks

Last week there were reports that say that Google is working on new standalone photo sharing and storage app that Google is going to be launched during I/O conference going to be held this month end. The screenshots leaked by Android Police gives us a good look at the app. Once you start the app, it greets with smooth pinwheel animation, followed by the small tutorial of course. The photo app allows the users to search of people/animals/places and asks you to backup the photos to G-Drive(if required) and takes care of the photos management. Users will be able to drag around to select multiple images.

The customization becomes attractive where users get access various "Views". Users can view their photos by Day/Month and "comfortable view" which tiles photos by day in a staggered grid. The app includes easier navigation including pinch in and swipes away. The "Auto Awesome" feature which we have now is being replaced by "Assistant Feature" which besides creating stories and animations- also allows users to create albums, movies, animations, collages. The image editing interface, filters & usual tools are still there, but the image cropping gets various aspect ratios. The images and videos stored gets better privacy controls. Google I/O event will kick start on May 28th till then all these are just rumors. Stay tuned for further news about the event as we expect Android M during the event.

Viber App Now Available For ChromeBooks

Popular messaging & calling application "viber" has launched their app for Google's Chrome Books. Google has been trying very hard to push developers support for its ChromeOS, though it has manufacturers support it mainly lacks the app support, now with association with viber Google has gained additional strength. Recently Xolo & Nexian Air have launched Chrome books in India. Viber app is quite popular among the tech circles for its better quality free over the internet call service and unlimited free messaging services. Viber app for Chrome has all the features that are present in the regular Android/windows/IOS platforms, it allows users to send free pictures, stickers, videos, etc. The key highlighting factor is enabling users to make HD video calls around the world. There are total 516 million register users for viber.  For those who aren't aware of ChromeOS, it is an operating system made by Google that is entirely based on Chrome browser. Where there is inbuilt app store for application support, since it is completely based on the internet it lacks typical operating system features.
