YU JYUICE 10,000mAh Power bank Unboxing and Initial Thoughts.

Now Available via Snapdeal, 10,000mAh costs Rs.1099 while the 5000mAh costs Rs.699
Remember some time back we posted that YU might be launching the  power banks with 5,000mAh and 10,000mAh capacities? Well, if you have forgotten here is the link to the article. The company has launched the YUNIQUE smartphone couple of days ago and as a part of the launch the company officials has held a separate meet in Hyderabad and we were also a part of that so we got hold of the YU JYUICE 10,000mAh power bank which is not yet out nor available as of now. We will be testing out the power bank and put our piece but before that this is our unboxing and initial thoughts.

Box Contents: Starting off with the box contents, soon after you open up the box packaging you will notice a sleek designed yet bigger is size 10,000mAh power bank under a typical cardboard type YU package. Beneath the power bank, we have the warranty card and a normal USB cable to connect any smartphone or tablet etc.

Design: The power bank has rectangle shape to it just like any other power bank and it looks cool. On the front side as said we have the YU logo but nothing else and on the back you absolutely have nothing except for the self-declaration note and power bank model number. On the top, you can see the 10,000mAh capacity written clearly and again the model number with some other information. And on the bottom, You have 2 MicroUSB ports meaning you can charge two smartphones at any single point of time, but the Outputs to the ports vary, the primary one has 5V 2.1A OUTPUT while the second one has 5V and 1A OUTPUT. There is another port which is used to plug-in and charge the power bank and an LED indicator light which will glow in green color if it's fully charged.

Thoughts: Design wise the YU power bank looks decent enough for our liking but what makes it from being a decent product to extraordinary is the performance. We have used the Asus ZenPower power bank and also the Mi power bank so how well can the YU perform and compete with those is the real question. We will spend our time testing the power bank and come up with the full review very soon. Till then stay tuned with us.

Yu Yuphoria Review After The Incremental Update

Yu Televentures, A name that changes the fate of Micromax in India in a positive way. No that Micromax was in a bad path before but it boosted the image of the company in a great way with Yureka smartphone that was brought to India in collaboration with Cyanogenmod. Though yureka was not of a perfect phone but for the price, we pay it's something we shouldn't complain too much. To sustain the image the company has launched their second smartphone very quickly and gave its competitors no chance. The smartphone we are talking about is the Yuphoria although its a bit late to cover the review but this article will cover the performance of the device after the incremental update that the company claims to fix the burning issues. So does the update changes the way thing used to work? Let's dig in.

Specifications of Yu Yuphoria
  • 5-inches HD display with CGG3 protection
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 Quad core processor
  • 2GB Ram/16GB internal storage(SD card slot available)
  • 8-megapixel autofocus primary camera
  • 5-megapixel fixed focus camera
  • 2,230mAh battery
  • 4G LTE, Dual SIM, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS
  • CM 12 based on Android 5.0.2
Build and Design of the smartphone are the first things that will catch our eyes on a very first glance. The design of the smartphone replicates the Lumia 830 at certain angles, but the rest of the design looks premium for a 7k Rs smartphone. The metal frame that runs around the sides of the smartphone is etched properly so that it won't hurt us while using the device. On the top of the device, there is just a 3.5MM audio jack that is located exactly in the middle, on the bottom there is a USB port for data transfers and charging. On the left, there is nothing placed while on the right side the volume rockers and power on/off button that is placed in between the volume buttons. These buttons are tactile and do give a good amount of feedback. On the back, there is an 8-megapixel camera located exactly in the middle and Saturn rings running around the camera module and speaker grills on the lower side of the back panel. On removing the back cover, we get access to Dual SIM card slots, SD card slot, and battery indent. On the front, the 5-megapixel selfie shooter, the usual set of sensors, the three touch type buttons are located within the display taking up some part of the display.  Overall the design of the smartphone has nothing to complain except the fact that Metal frame tend to heat up more on extended usage(more on that later).

Rating: 3.5/5

The Display is an another positive thing about the smartphone as it features a 720p display on a 5-inch screen with 294PPI, so things look sharper but not the sharpest we have seen but commendable. Although the viewing angles are not that great but thankfully, the blue hint seen on Yureka is now missing.  Our primary concern is the sunlight legibility, under the broad day light the display is not clearly visible and top of that the screen is reflective making it even hard. The adaptive brightness option might come in handy for most cases. The colors look a bit oversaturated. Overall the display is decent, functions like adaptive settings, double tap to wake and sleep, auto-rotation work fine creating no sort of disturbance. The touch response was the major issue before the update; sometimes the display becomes unresponsive but the update seems to have fixed the problem to a certain extent but the device freezes for a while during Gaming.

Rating: 3.25/5

The Device performance is quite good as the device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 Soc clocked at 1.2GHz Quad-Core 64bit processor with Adreno 306GPU coupled with 2GB of Ram. The device doesn't slow down at any time no matter you are gaming or multitasking but, the performance isn't the best for that we blame the buggy CM OS 12, for instance, the app drawer take couple of seconds to open up and sudden reboots are noticed while testing the device. Except for the OS glitches, there is not worry about the device. We played graphic intense games like Nova 3, Asphalt 8, Modern Combat 5 these games ran pretty well with some frame drops now and then and it is very much acceptable as issue is rarely visible for a normal user.  Comparing with competition like Redmi 2, Lenovo A6000+ the performance of Yuphoria is as good as expected and gives tough competition to the rest.  The major advantage of the device is the 2GB Ram out of which around 900MB is available all the time. Like any other smartphone, Yu Yuphoria also suffers from the Heating issue while playing graphic intense games and heavy multitasking the metal frame running around the smartphone overheats, and weirdly the front tends to more temperature than the back panel. But then again the company's incremental update seem to have fixed the issue to a certain extent, and this doesn't mean the smartphone don't heat up it only means the issue is being controlled.

Rating: 3.25/5

Camera performance is a slight disappointment. The 8-megapixel autofocus primary camera with LED flash located inside the Saturn rings(that's what the company calls). The camera can capture decent images provided with a good amount of lighting and environment.  The problem is that the CM camera app that is slow and doesn't fix focus at times. The color reproduction and saturation levels are poor, same goes with a front camera the images look washed out, but it is decent for video calls and selfie captures to some extent. The incremental update was expected to fix some of the camera issues, but it's sad to say none of the camera bugs was addressed as no major change was noticed.  Below images demonstrate the performance.

Rating: 3/5

The Battery is yet another drawback of the smartphone. The smartphone struggles to get a single day of usage. The screen on time noticed was around 4 hours and once you start using the smartphone as your daily driver the standby time also reduces significantly. Thanks to heating issue the battery drains quickly it is the safe practice to remove battery for some time letting the device cool down before using it further.  Since the update was expected to fix the battery issues, must say i didn't notice any change even after updating the device.

Rating: 3/5

Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Dual SIM, WiFi, Bluetooth. The call quality was good although the proximity sensor works weirdly while taking the call the problem was even seen on Yureka but the update seems to have fixed the issue. Since the device is 4G enabled you can access 4G connection if the bandwidth is available in the place you stay.
Others: Runs on Android 5.0.2 and is expected to receive Android 5.1 based on CM 12.1 very soon. There is 16GB internal storage of which around 11GB is available for users since the device has SD card slot storage is not an issue. No LED notification light and OTG support now the reason to skip these basic feature must be known to Yu.

Yu Yuphoria incremental Update Rolling Out

Yu Yuphoria smartphone to receive minute software incremental update, the rollout of the update has already started, and it will take 2-3 weeks for the smartphone users to get the update. Companies CEO, Rahul Sharma, has already announced about the incremental update that is being rolled out. The update is identified by version YNG1TBS2P2. The 38MB update brings fixes to Camera performance that is not up to the par, and the update will now allow the camera to capture sharper images in low-light conditions. Yu smartphones always had an issue with the proximity sensor, Yureka received an update to fix the issue and now this update will solve the problem on Yuphoria.

Another major fix will be the touch hanging while typing on a keyboard and the update is expected to improve touch responsive, better typing experience and also a patch to dialer will be available within the update package.  The enhanced audio chipset patch will result in the richer bass, sharper highs, and an overall crystal clear audio experience. As said the update will reach the users gradually within 2-3 weeks. The Company has also said to be working on an update for Yu Yureka. If you have received the update do let us know what changes you have noticed.

Everything You Need To Know About Yu Yuphoria (Q&A, Features)

For its first installment Yu, A subsidiary brand of Micromax has launched Yureka Though there are many things to complain about the device thanks to CyanogemMod people were in a rush to buy the smartphone. Now the company has come up with Yuphoria, A device that is not an upgrade to the Yureka but not a disappointment at the same time. During launch the companies Ceo, Rahul Sharma was mainly focusing on the design and build, well what do we think about it? Not bad at all, but at the same time the design can't be called as a complete rip off Lumia 830 but on first glance we feel that way. There quite a few things you got to know before you decide to go with it, Don't worry we are here to explain the things that we feel you should know.

Saturn Rings: One of the many things company was raving about is the Saturn rings. The camera on Yuphoria is 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash, The camera is located exactly in the center of a back panel. The Saturn rings around the rear camera sure reminds us about the Lumia 830(as mentioned above) though it is look alike, it makes sense and a point. Saturn rings helpes the device in capturing an image in a better way. Saturn rings will be used in all Yu branded smartphones from now on. On the front, there is 5-megapixel fixed focus selfie camera that can record videos in 720p. The camera performance is decent and is capable of capturing excellent images given ample amount of light and environment. while the front camera does justice for what the company claims.

Metal Construction: Though the company says that Yuphoria is made of Metal, but that isn't compltely true. The rims of the smartphone are made of metal while the rest is all plastic; Even the Saturn rings at the back are made of plastic. The back panel is removable giving access to SD card and SIM card slots and a removable 2,230mAh battery with backup upto 5-7 hours of continuous usage. On the front there no touch type capacitive buttons they are inbuilt on the screen. Light and proximity Censors and 5MP selfie camera. On the sides three phase buttons(company calls) two volume buttons and power on/off button in the middle that are made of metal.

Processor: The Yu Yuphoria is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 Soc clocked at 1.2GHz Quad-Core processor with Adreno 306GPU. Coupled with 2GB of Ram and 16GB internal storage, though we have many other competitors with same Soc in market like the A6000, Redmi 2 but the reason for Yuphoria having an edge over those is simply the extra 1gig of Ram. For 6,999, we are getting more than what we are paying. Keeping aside the price, the device can run pretty much anything we throw at it flawlessly. Another key highlight is the Cyanogen powered operating system, CM 12 based on Android 5.0.2 lollipop.  Performance wise the device has nothing to worry.

The Heating: Unlike the Yu yureka that is powered by Qualcomm 615that is known for overheating. The yuphoria doesn't heat that easy unless you are running heavy graphical intense games. Thanks to the SD 410 the device supports 64Bit architecture which will have a prominent role in the future.

Better Display: Smartphone above 5.5-inches should feature a 720p screen if used the display looks pixilated and doesn't look sharp. Thanks to the 5-inches display the 720p display on yuphoria looks sharp and color contrast is accurate. When compared with Yureka the display on Yuphoria is definitely on the upper side.

So here you go these were some of the things you need to know before you go with Yuphoria.

YuFit Band vs Xiaomi MiBand: Which One is a Perfect Buy

Yu Tele-Ventures has introduced the YuFit for a price tag of Rs. 999, for the same price Xiaomi, has also launched the Mi Band in India recently. Yu tele-ventures have surely launched the YuFit band to take on MiBand. But with multiple brands entering India with their tracking Bands it becomes a tough choice for users to decide one among the competition. Currently Mi Band and yuFit are the only bands that are in a discussion so we are here with yet another which will help you guys decide the best one among these two. Do note Yu has partnered with Healthify Me for YuFit, while Xiaomi has introduced the MiBand on its Own.

Design: Thought there is nothing much to describe primarily about the design of any health band, The YuFit band needs a special mention for it's small OLED display that shows the details like the Time, Number of steps, etc. While the MiBand just has an LED notification light. Design wise both these bands looks very identical that come with a rubber band that can be adjusted according to the size of wrist. Not to forget Both of them have Waterproof protection, Although the rating of YuFit is not enclosed while the MiBand come with IP 67 rating.

Features/Functionalities: It's just the company that differ not the functionalities for fitness band; Same goes with these two bands as well. The primary purpose of the fitness band is to track the steps walked, sleep time, calories burnt, etc. But the Yu deploys some extra features to make it a standout,  As mentioned the YuFit can display incoming calls and Messages on its OLED display. The YuFit band comes preinstalled with an impressive feature that calculates the amount of calories you eat in single day, all you have to do just click an image of the food you are about to take and upload it to the app to find out the amount of calories the food contains. These kinds of features go missing in the MiBand.

App Compatibility:  Both these bands has their android apps that are well and good compatible with the app via Bluetooth and control via your smartphone. There are many IOS apps that are developed to work along with Fitness bands like these. The Healthify Me app does a better job when compared with MiApp, well the reason are mentioned in "features" area.

Personal Trainer: This feature is just available for YuFit band. You can have a personal coach who will be training you in selected fields like a yoga instructor, a fitness trainer, Nutrition, etc. though this isn't free Yu/Micromax haven't mentioned about the pricing but the first 1000 buyers of the YuBand will get a free personal trainer. All you need to do beat the rush when it goes on sale and if you are lucky enough you can get yourself a free personal trainer.

Battery: MiBand is here for a while now, and there are many review that are surfacing all over the internet, and it is nothing surprise if I say MiBand will last for 30 days. Yes, MiBand lasts for 30 whole days on a single charge. While the Yu haven't enclosed the battery capabilities of the YuFit band. But given the fact that it features an OLED display we pretty much can expect the battery capacity to be higher than MiBand.

Verdict: On Comparing The features and functionalities of both these Fitness bands we feel the YuFit has an edge over the MiBand, But we can be wrong as the device isn't out yet. But as for now YuFit beats the Miband well at least on paper for now. Stay tuned for us for more comparisons like this.
